Description
The Pangolin Laser Safety Glasses are professional laser safety eyewear available in two variants — Performer and Technician — each selectively chosen for different roles in a live laser show environment.
From the Manufacturer
Laser safety glasses are an essential part of any professional laser show operation. Pangolin offers two purpose-built variants to address the distinct needs of performers on stage and technicians working directly with laser systems.
The Performer glasses are designed for those who interact with or work in close proximity to laser beams during a live show. They block the common red, green, and blue laser diodes used in full diode laser systems, while allowing through a significant amount of yellow-range light — providing great visibility of the surrounding stage environment. With a Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of 20%, these glasses are significantly easier to see through than standard laser safety eyewear, keeping performers aware of their surroundings without sacrificing protection against RGB wavelengths.
The Technician glasses are designed for laser technicians working on system setup, alignment, and servicing. They provide an average OD of ~1.7 across the visible spectrum — approximately 2% visible light transmission — applied in a very even way across all wavelengths used in entertainment lasers. This even attenuation means technicians can evaluate the entire color spectrum of their system with consistent reduction, without one color overpowering another or colors appearing missing. Coverage includes common OPSL modules such as 462nm (Cyan), 577nm (Yellow), 590nm (Amber/Orange), and 607nm (Orange), as well as UV laser wavelengths including 405nm and 375nm.
Note (Performer): These glasses do not sufficiently protect against yellow (577nm), amber (590nm), or orange (607nm) wavelengths. If your laser system is RGBY or RGBO, the Performer glasses will only protect against the RGB wavelengths — consider the Technician glasses instead.
Note (Technician): Just because the beam is not visible doesn't mean it's not there. Always take care when utilizing laser safety glasses, as high-power lasers are not only an eye hazard but also a burn and fire hazard.
Features
- Available in two purpose-built variants — Performer (stage use) and Technician (workshop/setup use)
-
Performer:
- 20% VLT — high visibility for stage awareness, blocks RGB laser diodes used in full diode entertainment systems
- OD 3+ from 180–532nm (blue/green), OD 2+ from 631–637nm and OD 3+ from 637–661nm (red) — only .1% of blocked wavelengths pass through
- Yellow-range light passes through freely — maintains color perception and environmental visibility on stage
-
Technician:
- ~2% VLT with average OD ~1.7 — heavy, even attenuation across all visible entertainment laser wavelengths
- Even protection across RGB and OPSL wavelengths including cyan (462nm), yellow (577nm), amber (590nm), and orange (607nm)
- Broad UV blocking — OD 10+ from 180–315nm, covering 375nm and 405nm UV laser wavelengths used in show projectors
- Maintains color balance between wavelengths for accurate system evaluation during alignment and servicing
- Recommended use: Live laser shows, concerts, festivals, theatrical productions, laser system alignment and servicing, projector setup and workshop use
